    Description

Snoopy's Getting Married Charlie Brown Production Cel Setup with Master Pan Production Background (Bill Melendez, 1985). The 28th Charlie Brown/Peanuts CBS-TV Special was inspired by an actual 1977 storyline from Charles Schulz's classic newspaper strip. It was scripted by Schulz and directed by Bill Melendez, and was first shown on 3/20/85. This was the first time Snoopy's brother Spike makes an appearance in an animated TV Special. In it, Snoopy falls in love with a dog called Genevieve, and Spike travels in from Needles, California to be Snoopy's "Best Beagle" at his wedding. Here is a great 12 field hand-painted production cel setup of Snoopy, Charlie Brown, Lucy, and Spike at Snoopy's wedding. Even the wedding cake is included on this 3-cel setup. The cels are on a pan hand-painted Master production background, measuring 30" x 10.5". A portion of the background can be seen at the 7:06 mark, where Snoopy's doghouse sits. This is a great 4-character cel setup, with image sizes of 3" - 4". A 4-character production cel setup on a Master hand-painted production background is something special in the world of Peanuts animation! Minor handling and edge wear. Small tear in the top border, nowhere near any painted area. Very Good condition.

I have done a preliminary analysis and the total of the hammer prices was $67,550. With BP, the final figure was $80,722.25. That is against the total insurance value of $34,785 or 2.32 x ‘pre-auction estimate’. Incredible, really, so a big thanks.
