Sleeping Beauty Eyvind Earle Master Hand-Painted Production Background with Production Cel Setup (Walt Disney, 1959). "Why it's Maleficent. What does she want here?" say the three Fairies as Maleficent appears in the Castle at Princess Aurora's christening. "I shall bestow a gift on the child" says Maleficent. This is a Master hand-painted production background of the throne room. This painting is attributed to Eyvind Earle, as he did most of the Throne Room background paintings. A letter from Eyvind Earle Studios dated October 4, 1995, indicates copies were mailed to him and he said this was his background. A copy of his letter is included. Background has Princess Aurora's cradle behind the Fairies as well as the King and Queen's thrones in this elaborate painting. Background is 30" x 12" with production notes on the bottom border. It reads, "Used in Seq. 2 for Scenes 99, 102, 110." A hand-inked hand-painted production cel of The Three Fairies -- Fauna, Flora, and Merryweather in their Fairy costume with hats and wands is trimmed-to-image and mounted to the cel. A hand-inked hand-painted production cel of The Queen holding baby Princess Aurora after Maleficent says the words "...and die!" is trimmed-to-image and mounted. And a great full-figure Maleficent and Diablo flying behind her are also trimmed-to-image and mounted to cel. All are placed on this masterpiece of a background painting. Images are 6" - 11". Mat opening is 29" x 11". One of the single most impressive Master setups from this film we have seen. Fine condition.
