Description

Sesame Street "Water Conservation" Carl Production Cel Sequence of 3 Signed by Peter Chung with Animation Drawing Sequence of 3 (Klasky Csupo, 1990). We have in this lot a stupendous sequence of three hand-painted production cels showing Carl, the main character of the Sesame Street short "Water Conservation.," racing after receiving an urgent call signed by its director, Peter Chung. While working at the famous animation studio Klasky Csupo, Peter Chung directed two stupendous shorts, "Up, Down" and "Water Conservation," before creating the cult-classic animated series Æon Flux. The dynamic images of the hasty character were used to show up on the scene starting at the 0:37 timestamp after Carl realizes how much his open faucet is affecting Frank's pond. Numbered B1, B2, and B5 in their bottom right corners, these 12-field cels show Carl still holding his landline phone, measuring image sizes of 12" x 7.5", 11" x 6.5", and 6" x 6.5", each showing Peter Chung's signatures on their bottom areas. The lot is accompanied by the three matching animation drawings rendered in graphite on 12-field animation paper. Cel B1 is shown on a printed background for presentation purposes, taped with archival artist tape. Drawings B2 and B5 have adhered to the back of their marching production cels. Some paint residue can be seen on drawing B1, and drawing B2 has a pink paint stain on Carl's foot area. The overall condition for this lot is Very Good, with mild handling and edge wear from production.
