Description

Robot Carnival "Presence" Production Cel Setup with Key Master Background (A.P.P.P., 1987). "What do I exist for?" The lifelike android of the segment "Presence" shows shocking self-awareness, much to her creator's dismay. From the haunting and surreal Yasuomi Umetsu-directed story created for the anthology film Robot Carnival, this hand-painted original production cel setup can be seen at the 51:54 mark of the alternate-order American release. An impressively large piece, it is displayed on its original Key Master background, rendered in gouache by artist Hikaru Yamakawa. This Key Master setup measures 16" x 13", and it shows minor handling and edge wear from normal use during production. The cels show taping near the top edge, and they are attached to the background with two staples. The background has two pinholes in the lower corners, and the overall condition of the piece is Very Good.
