Description

Princess Mononoke San Production Cel (Studio Ghibli, 1997). San, the fierce and beautiful female lead protagonist from Princess Mononoke graces this lot, offering a magnificent hand-painted production cel. The last of Hayao Miyazaki's films to use production cels, Princess Mononoke was released to Japanese theaters on July 12, 1997, to widespread acclaim from fans of critics alike, famously called by Roger Ebert "a great achievement and wonderful experience, and one of the best films of the year" in his 1999 review. One of the last images we see of the famous character, this hand-painted production cel was created to appear at approximately the 2:07:57 mark of the film, where San bids farewell to Ashitaka. The 14" x 9" cel, numbered A26 in the top right corner, has San gently smiling, measuring a figure size of 7.75" x 7.75". The cel is displayed on a printed background for presentation purposes. Presenting minor handling and edge wear from production, the lot is in Very Good condition.
