Description

Princess Mononoke San Production Cel Setup (Studio Ghibli, 1997). "They're warriors..." San spots human warriors disguised as boars as they close in on the unsuspecting boar god Okkoto. Seen at the 1:40:38 mark of Hayao Miyazaki's epic animated masterpiece Princess Mononoke, presented is an incredible original production cel setup featuring the wild San from the haunting scene. Princess Mononoke is widely celebrated for its alternate-history fantasy storytelling and its overt themes of humanity's shaky relationship with the environment. Miyazaki did not set out to create an accurate history of Medieval Japan, stating instead that he wanted to "portray the very beginnings of the seemingly insoluble conflict between the natural world and modern industrial civilization." This is a dramatic closeup of a character torn between her natural upbringing and her own humanity. A magnificent piece, this setup features San at a large 11.5" x 8" on the 13.75" x 9" cels. The piece is displayed on a printed background for presentation purposes, and it shows minor handling and edge wear. This lot includes a printed screenshot from the film. Light paint debris, and the condition is Very Good.
