Pokémon: The First Movie Pikachu, Ash, Squirtle and Bulbasaur Production Cel with Master Background, Animation Drawing and Ancient Mew Promo Card (OLM, 1998/2000). Presented is a spectacular hand-painted original production cel featuring Ash and his team of adorable pocket monsters from the hit feature film Pokémon: The First Movie. Featuring a great image with Squirtle, Bulbasaur, and the ever-iconic Pikachu front and center, this rare piece is a must-have for fans of the global phenomenon that is Pokémon. The success of this franchise can still be felt today, decades after it hit in the mid-90s, and the series significantly paved the way for booming interest in anime with Western audiences. Action-packed and charming, this cel is presented on a hand-painted Master background, rendered in gouache on background board. In addition, the setup is accompanied by its matching original animation drawing rendered in graphite and color pencil. If all this wasn't enough, this lot includes a holographic foil Ancient Mew promo Pokemon card released in the year 2000. The card shows slight warping with the foil layer showing some wrinkling on the back side. The Master setup measures 14" x 10", and the drawing is 10.5" x 9.5". Each piece shows minor handling and edge wear from normal studio use, and the background shows pinholes in the corners and sides. The setup is showcased on page 139 of the German Film Institute's gallery exhibition book Ga-Netchu! The Manga Anime Syndrome. The condition overall is Very Good.
