Pokémon "Fowl Play!" Pikachu Thunderbolt Production Cel Setup with Group of 2 Douga (OLM, Inc., 2000) "Pikachu, don't look into Noctowl's eyes! Attack where you hear the sound of its wings!" Pikachu uses Thunderbolt to help Ash capture a Shiny Noctowl in this episode from Pokémon: The Johto Journeys. This episode, entitled "Fowl Play!," marks the first appearance of a Shiny Pokémon in the Pokémon anime. Here is an unbelievable original, hand-painted two-cel setup from about the 20:10 mark of the episode, depicting Pikachu using Thunderbolt against the psychic Noctowl. Pikachu has his eyes tightly shut to avoid falling prey to Noctowl's Hypnosis while he attacks. The setup is composed of two 10.5" x 9" production cels. The first depicts a wonderful full-figure Pikachu, measuring about 2" x 2.5". The second depicts the dramatic effects of Pikachu's Thunderbolt, with the attack's painted area measuring a whopping 10.5" x 8.5", nearly the entirety of the cel! Pikachu's cel is numbered in its upper right corner with B12, while the other cel is numbered with A7. The cels are noted as coming from #154, Scene C217. If that wasn't enough, this group also comes with the original douga for both cels! Each drawing is rendered with graphite and colored pencil on 10.5" x 9" animation paper, matching their respective cels. The cels and drawings are in Very Good condition, with some handling and edge wear, including minor staining on the drawings and minor debris on the cels.
