Pinocchio Lost Boys and Gatekeeper Production Cel with Master Painted Background (Walt Disney, 1940). In this scene from Disney's second animated feature film, the Lost Boys, who have turned into donkeys, are herded up to be shipped off to the salt mines. This is a fascinating production piece that is both a Key Master and Master setup. The image of the shadowy Gatekeeper and the hand-painted background are a Key Master setup and can be seen together at the 1:01:12 mark. The donkeys appear just seconds later at the 1:01:20 mark. The hand-inked, hand-painted nitrate cels have been trimmed to the 4.5" x 8.5" image and mounted to clear acetate. It's over a trimmed production background that's masterfully painted in watercolor. This is an incredible one-of-a-kind Master setup from an early Disney classic. The art is framed under glass with a mat opening of 6.5" x 8.5 in a 17" x 19" frame. The cel has had minor restoration and condition for the lot is Fine. Frame is sold as-is.
