    Description

Pinocchio Jiminy Cricket Production Cel on Key Master Background in a Courvoisier Setup (Walt Disney, 1940). "It says here he went looking for you and was swallowed by a whale. A whale named Monstro!" Jiminy Cricket reads the letter explaining Geppetto's disappearance in this original Key Master Courvoisier setup from Disney's second animated feature film. You can see this image around the 1:08:21 mark. The hand-inked hand-painted 3" tall Jiminy has been trimmed to the image and placed over the original Key Master production background. The hand-painted background has been trimmed to 11" x 9" and the back is marked Seq.9.1 Scene 31 and 33. Backgrounds for this film were painted by Claude Coats, Merle Cox, Ed Starr, and Ray Huffine. Courvoisier Galleries usually created custom backgrounds for the cels they sold, but occasionally offered the one-of-a-kind production backgrounds making this setup particularly rare. It is in a mat that measures 14.5" x 12.5" which exhibits some minor stains. Condition is Very Good.
