Pinocchio Concept Drawing by Gustaf Tenggren (Walt Disney, 1940). By the hand of the acclaimed artist Gustaf Tenggren (1989 - 1970), we have in this lot an outstandingly rare original concept drawing of a pleasant village, created for the beloved Disney classic Pinocchio. Joining the Disney Studios during the Depression in 1936, Tenggren is renowned for his influential work in famous productions like The Old Mill, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, and Fantasia, among many others. A fantastic display of Tenggren's remarkable eye for detail, this original concept drawing, rendered in graphite on 12" x 8.25" paper, showcases a great image of the village where our story takes place, helping shape the film's backgrounds. Elements like the elaborate architecture, the buildings' layering, and the road's suggested texture grant this piece of production art a truly immersive quality. Normal age-related toning can be seen on the paper. Some pinholes can be seen on the top left corner. Presenting minor handling and edge wear from production, the lot is in Very Good condition.Auction Info
