Peter Pan Production/Color Model Cel (Walt Disney, 1953). Originally slated to be Disney Studio's follow up film to Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Peter Pan was put on hold because Fleischer Studios held the live-action film rights and were developing an animated version. Disney secured the rights to an animated version of the play and out-flanked the competing studio. For reasons no one is sure about, very little art from this particular film exists, making exceptional pieces like this original production/color model cel of the title character very rare. The hand-inked, hand-painted cel features one of the largest images of Peter we have seen, measuring approximately 7" x 9.5" on a 16 field cel. The 3-pegholes have been partially trimmed off of the bottom of the cel indicating that it may have been created as a color model. This is an exceptional image of the title character of one of Disney's most beloved classic films. The cel is taped to a 14" x 18' piece of mat board. There is a small hairline crack in the paint on Peter's shirt and the cel shows light handling wear. Condition is Very Good.
