Description

Peter Pan Neverland Indians Production Cel (Walt Disney, 1953). Rare production cel featuring two members of the Neverland Indian Tribe from Walt Disney's 1953 animated feature Peter Pan (the studio's 14th). Beautifully hand-inked and hand-painted on acetate, trimmed to approximately 12" x 10" and presented in a 16.5" x 14.5" mat. The setup captures the scene near the 35:14 timestamp as tribe members carry the Lost Boy Twins and John back to the Indian camp-crisp outlines and saturated mid-century palette conveys the film's brisk adventure rhythm. The Neverland Indian Tribe, conceived as fantasy "islanders" of Neverland, reflected caricatured tropes common in mid-20th-century media. In the decades since release, these depictions have been reassessed and are widely viewed as insensitive stereotypes; accordingly, the characters have been largely omitted or substantially revised in later Disney productions. As such, original production art from this limited sequence is scarce and historically notable, illustrating both the artistry of Disney's Ink & Paint era and the evolving conversation around representation in animation. A striking, screen-used artifact with strong display appeal and context. Matting is clean and ready to frame. Condition is Very Good.
