Description
Peter Pan Nana Production Cel with Master Background (Walt Disney, 1953). "Nana! Did you see...? You know, I have the strangest feeling that I've seen that ship before." Nana, the Darlings' adorable canine nursemaid, looks up at the sky in excitement when she sees the Jolly Roger sail away through the clouds. Mr. Darling isn't quite so sure about the strange sight, and he asks Nana if she sees what he does. This beautiful original production cel is hand-inked and hand-painted. It depicts an image of a happy-looking Nana that can be found at the 1:15:46 mark of the 1953 Walt Disney feature film Peter Pan. Nana's image measures a staggering 5.5" x 6.75" inches! Production cels featuring the charming Nana are hard to find, as Nana doesn't get to accompany the children to Neverland and thus doesn't get a lot of screen time. This cel is especially wonderful, with Nana's cheerful expression and vibrant colors. The cel is displayed atop an original, hand-painted Master background from earlier in Peter Pan. This background can be seen at the 8:10 mark of the film, when Mr. Darling makes Nana stay outside. This setup is especially great because this background comes from one of the few scenes in the film that Nana gets the spotlight with no other characters in the frame. The two pieces complement each other brilliantly. The 12 field cel is marked in its lower right corner with 10, and the background is marked as coming from Scene 112 of Sequence 1. The background is rendered with gouache and airbrush on 12" x 10" background board. This excellent setup is in Very Good condition, with some handling and edge wear, as well as a few tiny spots of paint separation on Nana, very minor cel warping, staple holes in the top corners of the background, and age-related toning.Auction Info
