Description

Peter Pan Indian Chief Production Cel (Walt Disney, 1953). "How." "How, chief!" This enormous production cel of the Indian Chief from Disney's Peter Pan appears at about 35:37 as the chief greets Michael, John, and the other Lost Boys after their capture, trying to learn what happened to his daughter Tiger Lily. The character was primarily animated by Ward Kimball, who added more personality to the Chief's movements, and was voiced by Joseph "Candy" Candido, who also voiced the leader of Maleficent's goons, Captain Crocodile, and Fidget the Bat among other Disney characters. The hand-inked and hand-painted cel is gigantic at about 8.5'' x 9.5'', nicely centered on the cel, and is brought to life with a truly impressive amount of color and detail that solidify the Chief as a stoic and respected leader. The cel is displayed in a 22'' x 18'' glass-fronted frame. All frames are sold as-is. Photos are not representative of actual frame condition. A reminder of Kimball's incredible animation and the charm and personality he imbued in his characters, the lot is in Good condition with light handling wear, small areas of cracking and paint separation, and faint waves to the cel.
From the Disney Legend Inductee Andreas Deja Collection.
