Description

Perfect Blue Mima Kirigoe Production Cel with Animation Drawing (Studio Madhouse, 1998). "Scene 48, the manager pulled away, take one!" Unsure about her decision to participate in a TV series scene, Mima shyly tries to cover just before the camera starts filming a scene that she hopes will help kickstart her career. From the acclaimed full-length directorial debut of the celebrated Satoshi Kon (1963 - 2010), we have in this lot a great image of Mima Kirigoe, the pop idol on a journey to start an acting career, at about the 32:36 mark of the movie Perfect Blue, as she prepares for her role in the TV series Double Blind. Considered by many an anime classic, Perfect Blue showcased Satoshi Kon's ability to direct a perplexing movie that blurs the line between reality and illusion. The hesitant Mima wearing the recognizable outfit from the club scene measures 6" x 7" hand-painted on the 12-field production cel numbered B18 in the top right corner. The lot is accompanied by an animation drawing from the same scene rendering Mima's face in graphite with colored pencil shading, numbered B-16 in the top right corner. Additionally, the lot comes with a folder used in the production of the 2005 anime series Basilisk. The production cel and animation drawing presents minor handling and edge wear from production, with the animation drawing showing some residue paint from the production cel. The folder presents normal studio wear and fold creases. The overall condition is Very Good.
