    Description

Peanuts The Charlie Brown and Snoopy Show Production Cel Sequence of 13 and Pan Master Background with Group of 10 Snoopy Animation Drawings (Bill Melendez, 1983). The Charlie Brown and Snoopy Show premiered 9/17/83 on CBS. It ran for two years before being syndicated. In addition to CBS it also ran on The Disney Channel and Boomerang. This is an impressive piece of Peanuts production art! Charlie Brown walks out with Snoopy's dinner, Snoopy jumps off his doghouse and immediately goes into his famous "Snoopy Happy Dance." This is a rare original Dean Spille hand-painted production panoramic background. At 10.5" x 39" this is one of the longest Peanuts backgrounds we have seen. The work was created using gouache on background board. The piece has a great 12 field, hand-painted production cel of Charlie Brown putting Snoopy's dinner in his dog bowl. The lot also includes thirteen amazing, 12 field, hand-painted production cels of Snoopy in a happy dance sequence. Fourteen production cels on one Master pan background! The lot also has 10 original animation drawings of Snoopy doing his happy dance. This is an incredible lot for Snoopy and Peanuts fans. Some tape on border of cels, minor handling and edge wear on the drawings and background; otherwise the artwork is in Very Good condition.

I have done a preliminary analysis and the total of the hammer prices was $67,550. With BP, the final figure was $80,722.25. That is against the total insurance value of $34,785 or 2.32 x ‘pre-auction estimate’. Incredible, really, so a big thanks.
