Description

Old Glory Paul Revere Production Cel (Warner Brothers, 1939). A hand-inked and hand-painted laminated production cel of Paul Revere for the Merrie Melodies theatrical short Old Glory. Directed by Chuck Jones (his first Porky Pig short) and animated by Robert McKimson, this classic short is about Porky having to learn the Pledge of Allegiance. He falls asleep and dreams about American history. Paul Revere was voiced by none other than Daws Butler. The cel is part of Leon Schlesinger's early animation art marketing program. Cels were trimmed, laminated, with a silk screen that reads "This is an original painting I used in "Looney Tunes" and "Merrie Melodies" copyright Leon Schlesinger." Paul and the horse are 6" and 8", respectively. The laminated cel is approximately 9" x 12". This is a very, very rare cel from the early days of Merrie Melodies, in Fine condition.
