Description
Neon Genesis Evangelion "Rei Beyond the Heart" Rei Vertical Pan Production Cel and Animation Drawing (Gainax, 1995). Offered in this lot is a sensational hand-painted production cel from the cult-classic anime series Neon Genesis Evangelion, displaying a magnificent and rare pan-sized production cel and matching animation drawing of Rei Ayanami in her plugsuit from the episode "Rei Beyond the Heart." This image was used to shape the memorable cut at the 18:38 timestamp, a scene that had Rei sitting while adjusting her outfit as she fondly thinks of Gendo rescuing her just before her re-activation experiment for the Eva 00. The gigantic 10.75" x 15.5" cel, numbered A15 in the bottom right corner, has the incredible image of Rei measuring a figure size of 8" x 13.5", shown on a printed background for presentation purposes. The included matching background is wonderfully rendered in graphite and colored pencils. Some light fading can be seen on the drawing. The cel is taped to the background with archival artist tape. The animation drawing has faint toned spotting in the bottom area and tape on the lower edge, showing a minor tear near the bottom left corner, and light paint residue. Overall, the lot shows mild handling and edge wear from production. In Very Good condition.Auction Info
