Neon Genesis Evangelion "In the Still Darkness" Asuka Production Cel Key Master Setup (Gainax, c. 1995-96). Asuka executes her plan to defeat the Angel Matarael, taking on an atypically defensive role as she blocks its corrosive acid attack. Seen at the 20:15 mark of the 11th Neon Genesis Evangelion episode "In the Still Darkness," this is a spectacular hand-painted original production cel featuring Asuka in the cockpit of Eva Unit 02. The piece is composed of three cels, one of which is a backlit effects layer used to create a glowing, fuzzy screen effect. A complete Key Master setup as seen in the final shot! Additionally, this lot includes three other screen layers from the sequence. The cels show minor studio handling and edge wear with light debris, and the condition is Very Good.
