Description

NBC Station Identification Cel Signed by John K. (Spumco, 1993). The peacock mascot of the NBC made its debut on television in 1956, with the bird proudly displaying 11 colored feathers to represent richness in color. In 1993, the television network launched a campaign to reinterpret the iconic bird as bumpers played during commercials. One of the animators chosen for the task was the acclaimed John Kricfalusi, who allegedly had a 90-minute feature for the campaign but was cut to 10 seconds after the censors got through it. The peacock gets the John K treatment in this lot featuring two completely rare hand inked and hand-painted production cels, highlighting the animator's nostalgic art style, with the character measuring 5.75" looking impatient for his feathers to pop out, and 6.25" looking a little roasted, with one of his feathers still up. Both cels display a Spumco sticker in the bottom left corner, signed by the renowned creator of Ren & Stimpy, John K., in the bottom right corner, and displayed in 18" x 14" mats with openings of 10.75" x 8.5". Two COAs are included with this lot. Overall, the cels show light handling wear from production and they are in Very Good condition.
