Kanta's grandmother treats Satsuki and Mei to a wonderful time in the vegetable garden, picking vegetables and exploring the beautiful landscape. Granny, Satsuki, and Mei take a break from harvesting to try some of the delicious-looking vegetables, including ice-cold cucumbers picked from the garden. This charming original production cel comes from about the 1:03:30 mark of the film, as Satsuki tries one of Granny's fresh cucumbers. The huge image of Satsuki measures about 6.25" x 7.75" on the 14" x 9" cel, which is numbered in its upper right corner with A22. My Neighbor Totoro captivated audiences in both Japan and abroad with its simple charm, weaving Japanese Shinto themes with the realities of growing up. This scene exemplifies the film's commitment to depicting the beauty of the simple things in life. The cel is displayed atop a color print of the background from the scene. The piece is in Very Good condition, with some handling and edge wear, including minor debris and some light line fading.
