Description

Miscellaneous Anime Mecha Production Cel (c. 1980-90s). Offered in this lot is an original anime series production cel of an unidentified mecha, or giant robot. Mecha became a popular genre in Japan following the end of World War II as the country began to experience rapid economic and technological growth, gaining even wider appeal after the 1979 release of Yoshiyuki Tomino's Mobile Suit Gundam series which introduced the concept of an epic space saga rather than the typical "monster of the week" formula. This mecha design resembles a lizard or dragon and measures an impressive 7.25" x 6" surrounded by a dirt effect that span the width of the hand-painted 12 field cel. Production codes found in the top right read 235 C10. The lot shows minimal handling wear from production use including some fading to the linework and some very minor spots of paint loss, overall Good to Very Good condition.
