Mickey's Christmas Carol Scrooge McDuck as Ebenezer Scrooge and Jiminy Cricket as the Ghost of Christmas Past Production Cel (Walt Disney, 1983). This original hand-painted 16 field-size production cel pairs Scrooge McDuck as Ebenezer Scrooge with Jiminy Cricket as the Ghost of Christmas Past from Walt Disney's 1983 theatrical featurette Mickey's Christmas Carol. Iconic Disney characters reenact Dickens's classic, and this setup captures the pivotal first visitation, with Jiminy's gentle authority nudging Scrooge toward reflection and redemption. The cel is accompanied by a separate background cel featuring the linework of the screen-used background, lending studio authenticity and crisp graphic depth. Historically, the film marks Alan Young's first on-screen performance as Scrooge McDuck (animated here by David Block). Although not initially considered, Young famously quipped-after years acting opposite a "talking horse"-that nothing was beneath him; his acclaimed turn cemented a lifelong association with the character.
