Description
Lord of the Rings Aragorn Cel on Key Master Production Background (Ralph Bakshi, 1978). Mighty warrior Aragorn rests with another fighter after defending King Théoden's castles from the Orcs, in this fantastic Key Master setup. Although Tolkien fans resented the film's lack of real conclusion (a planned sequel to finish the story never happened), this animated film has grown in stature over the years, building a new fan base from VHS/DVD and cable TV viewings. Peter Jackson, director of the later live action adaptation, sited Bakshi's film as an inspiration, while Time Out magazine noted this as #36 in their list of greatest animated films. The three-level cel and background setup has an overall size of 14" x 11"; the painted background is in either matte acrylics or heavy gouache on skimmed board. Background artists for the film included Richard Raynis and his assistants Lou Police, J. Michael Spooner, and Ira Turek. Setup condition is Very Good with minor handling wear and slight waviness of the cels.Auction Info
