Description

Jackson 5ive Michael Jackson Production Cel and Key Master Background (Rankin-Bass, 1972). Here's an original 12-field, hand-painted two-layer production set-up of Michael Jackson. The cels are placed over a very "trippy" Key Master hand-painted background. This is from the "Michael in Wonderland" episode that ran on 9/30/72. Before a show in the Wonderland theme park, Michael accidentally falls unconscious while testing a new roller coaster ride and dreams he is in Wonderland, where he encounters soul and funk-related versions of Wonderland's famous characters. The background is a stylized homage to the Beatles "Pepperland" from the Yellow Submarine animated feature film. Animation director, Robert Balser was also animation director on the groundbreaking animated Beatles film, Yellow Submarine. After that project, he went on to work on this series. Edge wear with tape and tape residue in the borders. Overall Very Good condition.
