Hair Ribbon Willoughby Production Cel on Master Production Background (Warner Brothers, 1944). This cartoon short holds the distinction of having two endings, both of which are considered too violent by today's standards to be shown on television. In both, Willoughby the dog is shot either by Bugs or by his own hand. This is an original hand-inked, hand-painted production cel from the first scenario at around the 7:42 mark. It's an exceptional image of the character in full-figure that measures approximately 7" x 7" on a 12 field cel. The cel is over a hand-painted Master production background that appears just a few seconds earlier. Original production art from the golden age of Warner cartoons is incredibly rare and one-of-a-kind Master setups like this are practically the rarest of all. The cel exhibits some cracks in the paint and minor paint loss. The 13" x 10" gouache background shows minor edge wear and pinholes. Condition is Very Good. From the Rev Chaney Archives.
