Description

Gulliver's Travels Lilliput Town Master Background and Gulliver Production Cel (Fleischer Studios, 1939). "Mr. Gulliver, can you fight?" "Well, your majesty, I can lick anybody my size." Shipwrecked Gulliver accidentally becomes King Little's best weapon in this outstanding 16 field 3-peghole Master background and production cel from the 1939 feature Gulliver's Travels. Background artists on the film included Robert Little (who signed off on this production background), Louis Jambor, Shane Miller, and Erich Schenk. This stunning gouache background of the village and mountains in Lilliput can be found at about 42:04 as Gulliver sits up, pulling off his restraints, while the meticulously trimmed to outline production cel of Gulliver can be found shortly after at about 43:48 as he cheerfully tells the king he can fight. The cel has been professionally restored while the background includes two initials signing off as well the production code F8-1 and two dates. Both are presented in a 13.75'' x 10.75'' mat window and 21.5'' x 17'' mat. This lot is perfect for collectors and fans of the film who want to immortalize Gulliver and his adventures in Lilliput. Very Good condition with minor edge and handling wear, light age-related toning, and tape along the edges.
