Description

Gulliver's Travels Gulliver Production Cel Setup with War Ship Production Cel (Fleischer Studios, 1939). "Hold your fire! Hear what I have to say." Gulliver tries to make Lilliput and Blefescu listen to his advice and stop the war before anyone is hurt, but these amazing trimmed multi-layer production cels from the feature film show the little nations' response. The 1939 film was based on the book of the same name by Johnathan Smith, which happened to be one of Max Fleischer's favorites, and the majority of Gulliver's movements were heavily rotoscoped from live reference of radio announcer Sam Parker. The war ships launching boulders and arrows at Gulliver can be found at about 1:09:08 while you can find Gulliver shielding himself from them at roughly 1:09:20. Each cel scene includes three cels; the boulders/arrows, splashing water, and Gulliver on the first and the caps of the waves, shadows, and ships on the second. The painted portions of the cels measure about 10.25'' x 8.25'' and 12.5'' x 8.5'' combined on 13.25'' x 10.5'' cels and 13.75'' x 10.75'' backing board with printed background for presentation purposes. Very Good condition with minor edge and handling wear.
