Gulliver's Travels Cleaning Boots Production Cel Setup with Key Master Background (Max Fleischer, 1939). The little people of Lilliput work together to spiffy up Gulliver, repairing his torn clothing and, in this scene, polishing his boots while reinforcing the soles. This great hand-inked, hand-painted 16 field 2-cel setup is from that scene with a boot, and can be found in online viewings at about the 46:11 mark. This is an important film in animation history, as the second full-length animated feature film, released about two years after Disney's Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. The cels are placed on the screen-matching original hand-painted background, showing the boot and surrounding landscape. Background (or "scenic") artists are listed on IMDb as Robert Little (who signed off as R. Little in an "OK" stamp in the left margin), Louis Jambor, Shane Miller, and Erich Schenk. The paint is brittle and beginning to flake off; professional restoration is recommended. Good overall condition.
