Golden Boy "Computer Studies" Kintaro Oe Production Cel (A.P.P.P., 1995). "My name is Kintaro Oe. I'm 25 years old. I'm an easy-going, job-hopping part-timer. Right now I'm on my way to a new part time job." Audiences everywhere were introduced to lifelong learner and excitable part-timer Kintaro Oe in the beginning of the first episode of Golden Boy as he rides to his new job, singing along to the music playing on his Walkman. The debut episode, "Computer Studies", premiered on 11/27/1995 and centered around Kintaro taking a job as a janitor at a nearby all-woman software firm. It introduced the audience to the type of humor and adult situations the series would become known for, both of which led to its enduring popularity over the decades. This scene is the first close-up we get of Kintaro in the series and can be found very early on at about 0:29, Kintaro's cheerful demeanor contrasted by the girls who had just walked by saying they hated people like him who sing loudly with their music. The protagonist measures about 7.5'' x 6.5'' on the 10.5'' x 9'' cel and is displayed on a scene-matching print background for presentation purposes. The cel is attached at the bottom edge with archival artist tape and numbered in the upper right corner. Our oblivious, kind-hearted Kintaro is in Very Good condition with light edge and handling wear, minor paint wear, and small areas of professional line restoration.
