Golden Boy "Computer Studies" Kintaro Oe Pan Production Cel and Animation Drawing (A.P.P.P., c. 1995-96). "Kintaro Oe, 25 years old. Tokyo University Department of Law dropout. He withdrew from school because he had mastered the entire curriculum. Since then, he has been changing jobs numerous times, learning about life. Riding his favorite bike, Crescent Moon, he keeps on moving. Perhaps someday he may save Japan, or even the world..." Kintaro Oe zealously passes cars on the freeway as he chants his mantra "study, study, study!" in this must-have image from the beloved comedy series Golden Boy. Created for the moment seen at the end of the first episode "Computer Studies," this is a stellar hand-painted original pan production cel featuring the ever-eager protagonist. This 10.5" x 18.25" cel can be seen at the 24:53 mark of the episode. It is hard to believe a more picture-perfect image of the lovable hero exists: a dynamic low angle, a full-figure pose, a great expression, and huge! Kintaro measures a whopping 15.25" tall! Numbered C3 in the upper right corner, the cel is accompanied by its matching original animation drawing rendered in graphite and color pencil on animation paper of the same dimensions. The drawing is also numbered C3. Each piece shows minor handling and edge wear, and the drawing shows some paint debris from studio use. Some professional restoration on the bike tires of the cel, and the cel is displayed on a printed background for presentation purposes.
