Description

Ghost in the Shell Tank Production Cel with Production Background and Animation Drawing (Production I.G, 1995). Offered in this lot is a hand-painted production cel from the 1995 anime film Ghost in the Shell displaying a remarkable image of the heavy-armored spider tank seen during the memorable climax. Mechanical designs for this film were provided by the skilled artists Atsushi Takeuchi and Shoji Kawamori. Guarding the shell of Project 2501, also known as the Puppet Master, this fantastic full-figure image of the spider tank shows up at approximately the 1:02:52 timestamp as it hunts down our protagonist, Mokoto. The cel is numbered A3 in the top right corner and presents the vehicle measuring 8.75" x 5.75", shown on a gouache rendered 14.25" x 10" background, numbered 330 in the top right corner. This lot includes the matching animation drawing for the tank, rendered in graphite and colored pencils with red ink color callouts. The cel shows some fading on the linework and is taped to the background with archival artist tape. Overall, the lot presents light handling and edge wear from production. In Very Good condition.
