Description

Ghost in the Shell Motoko Kusanagi Production Cel with Production Background (Production I.G, 1995). From the groundbreaking anime film by famed director Mamoru Oshii, Ghost in the Shell, we offer in this lot a stupendous hand-painted production cel showcasing a rare image of the impassive Motoko Kusanagi in her sleeping clothes. Used to create the memorable scene of Motoko waking up after the opening credits, this picture of Motoko appears at the 7:35 mark of the movie, offering an exemplary image of the field commander of Section 9 measuring 4.5" x 6.75" on the 14.25" x 9.25" cel, numbered C120 in the top right corner. The cel is shown on a black production background created in gouache on 14.5" x 9.25", possibly from the film's production, taped to it with archival artist tape. Staple holes are present on the top edge of the cel and background. The window in this lot is a printed picture taped to the background. Minor curling is present on the cel, and the peghole area is taped. In Very Good condition with minor handling and edge wear from production.
