Description

Ghost in the Shell Motoko Kusanagi Production Cel with Animation Drawing (Production I.G, 1995). Major Makoto Kusanagi, the stoic leader of Section 9, is featured in this hand-painted production cel relaxing on her day off by diving in the ocean. Almost a meditational practice, the Major enjoys submerging in the waters despite her heavy weight as a cyborg, relying completely on her floating device to bring her back to the surface. Seen at the 28:13 mark of Mamoru Oshii's emblematic film Ghost in the Shell, this splendid cel shows that the Major's floating device is definitely working this time, as the diving instrument releases air bubbles next to her before ascending to the surface. Featured in her diving gear, Motoko Kusanagi is presented measuring an image size of 6.5" x 7.75" on the two-layer production cel, accompanied by its matching animation drawing, rendered in graphite with colored pencil shading and details. One of the most memorable scenes in the movie, this great image exemplifies the contemplative side of the cult-classic anime film. The cel is presented on a black board for presentation purposes, it has its layers adhered together and taped by the top corners and shows minor fading ink on the linework. The animation drawing presents some light paint residue from the production cel. Overall, the lot is in Very Good condition with light handling wear from production.
