Description
Ghost in the Shell Motoko Kusanagi Production Cel Setup with Production Background and Animation Drawing (Production I.G., 1995). Bubbles rush around the stoic leader of Section 9, Major Makoto Kusanagi, who is seen in a rare, relaxing day off in this splendid original production cel from Mamoru Oshii's 1995 emblematic film Ghost in the Shell. Almost a meditational practice, the Major enjoys submerging in the ocean waters relying completely on her floating device due to her heavy weight as a cyborg. Seen at the 28:13 timestamp, the Major's dive suit releases a steady stream bubbles helping her to effortlessly ascend to the surface. Fully clad in her diving gear, Motoko Kusanagi is presented nearly full-figured in a backbend pose with an image size of 6.75" x 7.25" including the bubbles on the hand-painted cel measuring 14.25" x 9" overall. The setup is paired with a production background, possibly from the film, which has been hand-painted in gouache on board measuring 15.25" x 10.5" marked #806 and 321.348 in the top corners. The accompanying matching drawing has been rendered in graphite and colored pencil to a similar image area on animation paper measuring 13.75" x 9.25" marked A18 in the top right like the cel. One of the most memorable scenes in the movie, this great image exemplifies the contemplative side of the cult-classic anime film. With typical handling and edge wear including minor linework fading to the cel, minor corner creasing to the background, faint surface wear/staining to the drawing, and archival artist tape, overall this iconic pair is in Very Good condition.More information about Production I.G..
