Description

Ghost in the Shell Motoko Kusanagi Production Cel and Animation Drawing (Production I.G, 1995). "Authorisation to arrest the assailants and seize the material evidence..." Suspicious of the involvement of Section 6 in the case of Codename Project 2501, also known as Puppet Master, Major Mokoto Kusanagi requests permission to go after the Artificial Intelligence and investigate matters for herself. Geared up for her upcoming task, Mokoto Kusanagi featured loading her CZN-M22 submachinegun with the cold calmness that distinguishes her in this hand-painted production cel from Ghost in the Shell, an outstanding anime film turning 30 this year. This terrific two-layer cel can be seen at about the 52:22 mark of the film, as we approach the remarkable climax scene, and features our iconic protagonist measuring a remarkable figure size of 7.25" x 7". Included with the lot is the matching animation drawing that rendered Makoto and her gun with graphite and colored pencil measuring 4.25" x 6.25", numbered B12- in the top right corner. The lot comes with two studio-printed copies of the layout drawings for the background. This cel is featured on a printed copy of the background, taped to it with archival artist tape. Light fading can be seen on the cel's linework. Some paint residue can be seen on the animation drawing. Overall, the lot shows light handling and edge wear from production. In Very Good condition.
