Description

Ghost in the Shell Motoko Kusanagi Production Cel and Animation Drawing (Production I.G, 1995). "Next time, either call in or don't show up if you're going to be late." Major Kusanagi is really good at her job, even when she might not always show up on time. Motoko Kusanagi, the cold and calculating member of Section 9, is presented in this lot wearing a yellow coat, arriving fashionably late, as seen at about the 37:05 mark of Ghost in the Shell. The 1995 film, directed by the acclaimed Mamoru Oshii, is regarded as one of the most influential anime films of all time, with prominent directors like James Cameron or the Wachowskis drawing inspiration from the meditative, exciting, and elaborate movie. Motoko measures 5.75" tall on the hand-painted 12.25" x 9" production cel, numbered B8 in the top right corner, accompanied by its matching animation drawing, rendered in graphite with colored pencil shading and red ink animator notes. This lot features a clear image of Motoko that is otherwise seen through a digitized filter in the film. The cel presents fading on the linework, and the animation drawing shows toning on the top edge and traces of paint from the production cel. Minor handling wear from production. In Very Good condition.
