Description

Future Boy Conan Conan Production Cel with Custom Painted Background (Nippon Animation, 1978). Conan, the titular character of the 1978 series that saw the acclaimed Hayao Miyazaki as director for the very first time, is presented in this hand-painted production cel. Based on the 1970 novel by Alexander Key, The Incredible Tide, this anime adapted Conan's adventures in 26 episodes, with the original pessimistic tone of the novel changed by Miyazaki in favor of a more optimistic one. The audacious Conan looks surprised in the hand-painted 12 field sized production cel, measuring 8.25" x 7.5", and featured on a custom painted background. The lot is presented on a Nippon Animation paper folder with an opening of 9.25" x 6.75". The linework shows some fading, some slight cracks on the paint on Conan's shirt, and there is tape residue on the left corners of the cel. With some handling wear from production, the piece is in Very Good condition.
