Description
Freakazoid! Production Cel (Warner Brothers, c. 1995-97). "He's here to save the nation, so stay tuned to this station. If not, we'll by unemployed, Freakazoid! Freakazoid!" The titular Freakazoid mischievously sneaks off in this fantastic hand-painted original production cel from the knee-slappingly funny animated series Freakazoid!. Freakazoid! was originally created as a superhero series with comic overtones by Bruce Timm and Paul Dini of Batman: The Animated Series fame. Executive producer then requested of the series developer Tom Ruegger to turn the show into an all-out comedy, more in line with his work on Animaniacs and Pinky and the Brain. The result was a unique brand of humor with inclusions of slapstick, fourth wall firings, pop culture references, parody and a healthy dose of surrealism. The "hero" of the series stands 9" tall in full figure on the 13.5" x 14.5" cel. The piece bears a Warner Brothers seal and is accompanied by a Warner Brothers Certificate of Authenticity. It shows handling and edge wear with two tears on the bottom edge and some folding on the top edge. The condition is Good.Auction Info
