Ferdinand the Bull Production Cel Courvoisier Setup (Walt Disney, 1938). Gentle Ferdinand enjoys the wildflowers around him in this original hand-inked hand-painted production cel. This stand-alone Disney short, based on a famous children's book by Munro Leaf, was directed by Dick Rickard and released to theaters on 11/25/38. It won the Academy Award for Best Short Subject (Cartoons), and has been a holiday favorite in several countries, shown on television every Christmas Eve. This is a rare Courvoisier setup with trimmed-to-edge cel of Ferdinand and specially-painted grass with flowers placed on a custom airbrushed background. The setup is in its original simple wooden frame with cream-colored mat, which has "Ferdinand" hand-lettered below the 6.5" x 6.5" opening. The frame has a bit of wear, and is offered in as-is condition. The original Courvoisier COA is attached to the back of the frame. The cel has slipped a bit within the glass-front 13.75" x 14.75" frame, and there is some discoloration on the background. Good condition.
