Dragon Ball: The Path to Power Goku Production Cel with Production Background and Animation Drawing (Toei Animation, 1996). We have in this lot an outstanding hand-painted production cel from the anime movie Dragon Ball: Path to Power, presenting a phenomenal image of our iconic protagonist, Goku, holding the Dragon Radar while riding on his trusted Flying Nimbus, accompanied by its matching animation drawing. Released in Japanese theaters on March 2, 1996, Dragon Ball: Path to Power retold the early events of the Dragon Ball series, starting from the famous first meeting of Bulma and Goku until the thrilling fight against the Red Ribbon Army. Featuring the stellar character design by Tadayoshi Yamamuro, this fantastic image of the young (and still tailed) Goku features an impressive picture of the character, equipped with his Power Staff and riding the Flying Nimbus, as seen at the 57:52 mark of the exciting movie. Goku measures an image size of 4.75" x 7" on the 12-field production cel, numbered A13 in the top right corner, and featured on a hand-painted production background created in gouache on 13.5" x 10.5" background board, numbered BG-61 in the bottom right corner. The matching animation drawing has Goku rendered in graphite with colored pencil shading and details. The production cel has adhered to the production background, and it presents light fading on the linework. Some paint residue can be seen on the animation drawing. Overall, the lot is in Very Good condition with very light handling and edge wear from production.
