Description
Donald Duck "Hudson Hornet" TV Commercial Production Cel Setup with Key Master Background (Walt Disney, 1954). "Well, that was all very clear if you're a duck!" This is an outstanding hand-inked, hand-painted 16 field black and white cel setup of Donald Duck with a very bored-looking Huey, Dewey and Louie. This is a four-cel setup with a Key Master hand-painted production background. This was done for a Hudson Hawk/American Motor Company TV Commercial that touted this car had "A ride three times softer and smoother and safer too, due to 'deep coil springs." This commercial can be currently found on YouTube. This is for the cartoon opening; it then quickly goes to live action. Disney started a TV Commercial division in 1952, with Tom Oreb as the unit's main designer. Disney could now offer animated segments to sponsors for his TV show. This unit is written about extensively in the book by Amid Amidi called Cartoon Modern - Style and Design in Fifties Animation. The cel is matted with a mat opening of 12" x 9". Characters are nice size of 3" - 6". This is a rare piece of Disney and 1950s television history. Fine condition.More information about Walt Disney Studios - Fab Five.
