Darkwing Duck Original Darkwing Production Cel (Walt Disney, c. 1991-1992). This original Darkwing Duck production cel features a fantastic 2" full-body image of Drake Mallard, aka Darkwing Duck, the self-absorbed superhero of St. Canard. Hand-painted on 12-field acetate, the cel is paired with a printed background for display purposes. Darkwing Duck, created by Tad Stones and produced by Walt Disney Television Animation, aired from 1991 to 1992 on The Disney Afternoon and ABC's Saturday morning lineup. Darkwing Duck is a satirical take on pulp heroes, drawing inspiration from iconic characters like Batman, The Shadow, and the Green Hornet. Known for his exaggerated introductions and flashy style, Darkwing Duck fights crime in the fictional city of St. Canard, a parody of Gotham City from the Batman universe. The character's costume and gas gun further enhance the homage to classic crimefighters.
