Description
Crusader Rabbit Production Cel Setup with Rags the Tiger (Creston Studios, c. 1956). Here's a rare 2-cel setup featuring characters originally developed and shown on television from 1950-52, as the first animated series produced exclusively for TV. That early series was produced in black and white, with Jay Ward as one of the producers. We believe this cel, featuring Crusader Rabbit and his pal Ragland T. Tiger ("Rags" for short) is from the second version. In 1956, the rights to the series change hands, and 260 color episodes (as 13 serialized storylines, or "Crusades") were produced by Creston Studios, aka TV Spots, Inc. This setup includes a 12 field cel featuring a full-figure Rags holding a gun; his figure size is 4", and the cel is noted as G-15 in the bottom right corner. The Crusader Rabbit cel has been trimmed to approximately 7" x 7.5", with a figure size of 2.5". The Rabbit cel has some paint loss in the upper left ear and paint separation in the right ear; it's in Good condition, while the Rags cel is Very Good.Auction Info
