    Description

Cock o' the Walk Production Cel Setup with Custom Background (Walt Disney, 1935). Ben Sharpsteen directed this Silly Symphony short, which included a lavish parody of a Busby Berkeley dance routine. It was released to theaters on 11/30/35. In the short, a cigar-smoking boxing rooster champ comes to town and wins all the chick's affections. He steals a young rooster's girlfriend's attention, with the spurned boyfriend ending up in a boxing match with the champ. This is a rare FULL 12 field nitrate hand-inked, hand-painted production 2-cel setup of the big showdown in the ring. It can be seen at 5:33 mark. Right after this, the champ puts his cigar ashes on the young rooster's head, under his hat; the fight breaks out shortly after. The setup is on a beautiful custom hand-painted background. Full nitrate matched production cels from Silly Symphony shorts of this era are as rare as hen's teeth! Great images, with sizes of 5". Cels and custom background are in a mat measuring 17" x 14.5'. Minor handling and cel ripple. In Very Good condition.
