Castle in the Sky Pazu, Dola, and Pirates Production Cel Setup with Master Background (Studio Ghibli, 1986). "Hurry, we have to get there before sun-up!" The pirates that once tried to steal Sheeta's pendant now join forces with Pazu to rescue the girl from the clutches of Muska and Muoro's army. From the classic Ghibli movie Castle in the Sky, at the 50:39 mark of the film, we present this thrilling production cel setup with Pazu, Dola, and two members of her pirate crew ridding Flaptters on their way to rescue Sheeta. Pazu and Dola riding together share an image size of 7.75" x 7", while the other two members of the crew measure 3" x 3.25" on the Flaptter on the 13.75" x 9" hand-painted production cels. This fantastic still image from the movie shows a tremendous sense of motion thanks to the kinetic lines that bring the picture to life! The setup is presented on a Master background, beautifully depicting the night sky just before dawn approaches, rendered in gouache on background board measuring 14" x 9.25". The setup shows surface scuffing and light surface scratches that don't affect the art. The cels are stuck together, and they show tape residue on the left edge. The Master background has pinholes near the bottom corners of the board. Displaying light handling wear from production use, the overall condition of the lot is Very Good.
