Description
Busybody Bear Barney Bear Production Cel and Model Sheet Drawing Group of 2 (MGM, 1951). Here's a rare hand-inked and hand-painted production cel plus a great model drawing starring one of MGM's unsung cartoon characters, Barney Bear. It's "Good Neighbor Week," so Barney decides to help Buck Beaver build his dam - with disastrous (but funny) results, in this Dick Lundy-directed short. This series starring a sleepy, often grumpy bear ran from 1938 to 1954; Busybody Bear was the 18th short, released on 12/20/1952. This is the scene where Barney, after being repeatedly bopped on his noggin by fallen trees, stops the busy beaver by stepping on his flat tail; Barney's foot is first seen at the 1:28 mark in online viewings, with his whole figure appearing two seconds later. Barney's overall approximate image size is 6" x 5.25". The cel is placed on a print background for presentation purposes. The cel is matted with an opening size of 12" x 9" and framed with Plexiglas for an overall 20.5" x 17.5". Included with the cel is a second framed piece featuring two model drawings of Barney, with front and side views. These are in graphite and light blue pencil shadings, with image sizes of 3" x 5.75" and 2.5" x 5.75". The art is matted with an aperture of 11.5" x 9" and overall Plexiglas-front frame size of 20" x 17.75". All frames are sold as-is. Photos are not representative of actual frame condition. The cel has a few small cracks in Barney's blue pants, but no paint loss, and the drawing has minor handling wear. Overall condition is Very Good.Auction Info
