Description

Blitz Wolf Sergeant Pork Production Cel Signed by Preston Blair (MGM, 1942). "You fellers can laugh, but you better quit foolin' around and get to work!" says Sergeant Pork to his shiftless brothers in this original hand-inked, hand-painted trimmed production cel. This Tex Avery-directed cartoon (his first for MGM) was a World War II propaganda short that reworks the story of the Three Little Pigs as citizens of Pigmania, a country being invaded by "Adolph Wolf." Sergeant Pork (a take-off on the Gary Cooper movie Sergeant York) is the smart Little Pig who built his house with stone; in this scene, he is fortifying his home by digging a trench while his brothers laugh at him, singing "You're in the Army Now." We found this image at the 1:23 mark in an online viewing. Image size is approximately 4" x 6.5"; the cel has been hand-signed by legendary animator Preston Blair along the bottom. Matted with an opening of 5.75" x 7", and framed using Plexiglas for an overall size of 13" x 14.25". The frame is sold as-is. Cel condition is Very Good with minor handling. .
