Beauty and the Beast Disney Publishing Original Cel Art (Walt Disney, c. 1991). Here's a rare one! This is a piece of original cel art created for Disney Publishing as a children's book page. Because the Beauty and the Beast was nearly completely hand-drawn on paper that was then scanned, painted and composited via computer, there are no production cels, making original cel art like this one so rare and valued by collectors. The cel was hand-painted on 16 field acetate at Disney's Ink and Paint Department in Burbank for Disney Publishing. It's a nice large image of 11" x 8". This gorgeous artwork comes to auction from the collection of Paul Wenzel (1935 - 2022). Wenzel was a 42-year veteran Disney illustrator in the Motion Picture Advertising Department. He became Disney Consumer Products first Art Director for their creative publishing team, and in 1985, Paul was made Creative Director of Character Art supervising over 25 artists before retiring in 2000. The 16 field cel is taped to a 17" x 13" board with a protective sheet over the art. In Very Good condition.From the Master Disney Artist/Art Director Mr. Paul Wenzel Archive.
